FEBRUARY #30DAYFLIP NO SEW CHALLENGE

Hi everyone; I’m Sue and I blog over at A Purdy Little House. I’m so excited to share with you the round up post of all the fabulous projects completed for the February #30dayflip Challenge.

For the month of February, the gals (Jeanette from Snazzy Little Things and Meredith from Arts and Classy) and I hosted a No-Sew Challenge.

Participants had to complete a project using fabric or some other type of “fabric-like material” and create (or transform) anything they wanted.

The Catch: No sewing was allowed, and all projects had to stay under $20.00.

February No Sew Challenge 30 day flip

Our #30DayFlip participants totally killed it last month with their unique and creative projects.

Our winner of the February #30dayflip Challenge is Pili from My Sweet Things blog. She covered tin cans with an old bleach stained napkin, and created these gorgeous cans she can use as a display or for storage. That lace addition is pure perfection!!!

PILI’S PROJECT SUMMARY: I took and old napkin which had some bleach stains and couldn’t be used for fancy projects. I cut it in half, and wrapped the can with it. For the bottom, I made some cuts and glued the fabric. I added some laces, and two rosettes I made out of scrap fabric, and I had two cute fabric wrapped tins!!

Check out the full blog post and tutorial on Pili’s blog here. And a huge CONGRATS again to Pili! The voters of the DIY Forum chose her Fabric Tins as their favourite. Way to go Pili!!!! We love your project 🙂

Victoria from the Dazzle While Frazzled blog made this amazingly smart snack pouch out of a vinyl placemat and cable ties. How ingenious… and adorable!!!

Making a snack pouch out of a vinyl placemat #30dayflip

VICTORIA’S PROJECT SUMMARY: My main objective for this (snack) pouch was that it be easy to clean and wipe down (be cootie-free, as the first graders say) at the end of each school week. What better, easy-to-clean material is there than a vinyl placemat?

Christina from Roughly Refined Furniture created this wonderfully simple and beautiful cornice for her guest room using styrofoam and fabric. Can you believe she pulled this off for only $4.00? Wow!!!

After

CHRISTINA’S PROJECT SUMMARY: I saved the large pieces of Styrofoam from our TV when we bought it, to use to paint on top of. So I cut it to size and fit my yard of fabric over it (which I bought with a 50% off coupon).

Debra from the DIY Forum made these cute and easy no-sew pillows using placemats she bought at Home Goods for $9.99. These bunnies are so unbelievably sweet, and check out that amazing vignette she’s got going on to the right!

DEBRA’S PROJECT SUMMARY: I already had the fill leftover from Thanksgiving pillows and this was a “No Sew” project so I used fabric glue to close up the small holes that I made to fill them.

Susan from the Salvaged by Susan blog transformed this old yard sale find into a gorgeous French country inspired dining chair.

SUSAN PROJECT SUMMARY: Now that I had the base of the dining chair done, it was time to move on to the seat. I pulled off the old cover and batting, and decided to replace it all. I went with a canvas drop cloth for the cover because I liked the texture and I thought the neutral tone would go well with the chair. And it was pretty cheap for a lot of material.
