10 Cheap DIY Projects to Make Your Home a Better Place
Cheap DIY projects for your home doesn’t mean that they have to look cheap. There is an art to finessing and using creativity to turn anything into something beautiful for your home.
You know how much I love finding inspiration to make my apartment a more beautiful place to live in. I firmly believe that your home is a reflection of what is going on in your mind to a degree.
Sooooo…. if you distracted and feeling overwhelmed in your mind, your surroundings will most likely reflect that.
I love surrounding myself with beautiful things that fit my budget. I hope you find the following items inspiring to make for your home. I wanted to share some amazing and cheap DIY projects for your home that you can easily make. I know DIY intimidates some, but I promise the projects I have selected are totally manageable.

1. DIY Tufted Headboard
Making your own headboard isn’t as hard as you may think. I have made my past 2 headboards. One was tufted and the other one I hand painted.
Supplies/Tools needed for this project:
- 2 x 4 wood
- a sheet of peg board
- 1 inch foam
- light weight batting
- spray adhesive
- upholstery weight fabric
- buttons
- trellis wire
- large mirror/ picture hangers
- a staple gun
- measuring tape
- wire cutters

2. Crystal Centerpiece
I love the simplicity of this project. I guarantee you can find all of the items needed at your local thrift store. There is always so much glassware.
Supplies needed for this project:
- Vases, glassware, votives from your local thrift store. 7-9 total.
- 1 Tray
- Paint brush
- Antique brass spray paint
- White chalk paint
- Paper towels
- Masking tape

3. Modern Nightstands
I love the look of these nightstands and I think this matte color has a very high end feel to it. This DIY room decor is the perfect addition to a bedroom. I think side tables for a living room would also look pretty.

4. Anthropologie-inspired Gold Wire Baskets
I love the simplicity of this DIY room decor project. Since the basket is from the dollar tree the budget on this piece is very low! Yay! This project was inspired by an Anthropologie basket you can purchase for a lot more.

5. Indoor Planter
Indoor planters are perfect for apartments. Bringing some green (regardless if it is real or not) into your space will help class up your place and brighten your mood. As humans, feeling somewhat connected to nature is crucial.

- Bowl style vase
- Glass candlestick base
- E6000 or similar adhesive, (recommended) or glue gun
- Marking pen
- Potting soil
- Gravel or pebbles
- Plant material
- Decorative moss or rocks

6. Marble Contact Paper can be your best friend!
This is a project I know first-hand looks amazing. I had a coffee table that I flipped with the help of a little marble contact paper.

7. Design and paint your area rug.
I have never hand painted an area rug but I love this idea and the finished product looks pretty convincing. I think this one DIY room decor project I will have to tackle asap.

8. Copper Pipe Suspended Paper towel holder
I love the simplicity of this project and the look of it. Very simple in construction but the function serves a purpose.
Supplies needed for this project:
- A โ 1 copper pipe, 1/2 inch
- B โ 1 90ยฐ female to male copper elbow, 1/2 inch
- C โ 1 copper cap, 1/2 inch
- D โ 1 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch copper reducer
- E โ 1 3/4 inch thread to tube adapter
- F โ 1 90ยฐ female to female copper elbow, 1/2 inch
- G โ 1 galvanized floor flange, 3/4 inch
- Pipe cutter or hacksaw
- 4 screws, 1/2 inch
- Steel wool

9. No Sew Tie-up Shades
Before I had my sewing machine, I was all about the no-sew projects. You can still create beautiful shades for your home with all the sewing drama that goes along with it.
Supplies needed for this project:
- Fabric
- Iron
- Fabri-Tac (use can also use stitch witchery or hem tape)
- Ribbon
- 1 X 2 piece of wood or scrap wood (I used old casing)

- Cotton Clothes Line (100 feet should be plenty)
- Mirror
- Liquid nails
- Small brad nails
- Hammer
- Hot glue gun
- Craft paint (optional)
- Fabric dye (optional)
