5 Simple DIY Christmas Decoration Ideas
Christmas is almost here! I love decorating this time of year. Looking for DIY Christmas decoration ideas is the best way to figure out how you can blend them into your existing decor. I am not really a fan of bold tacky holiday decor. I find it so distracting and busy.
Here are some really cute home decorations that you can make for your home this holiday season. I strategically picked these because I didn’t want them to be intimidating for a newbie DIYer.
You can plan on completing one of these projects within a day depending on your schedule. If you have a lot of time you could complete all of them in one day. I have been searching for a lot of inspiration recently because I felt like I hit a creative wall. These projects inspired me and I hope they inspire you also!

1. Upcycled Wine Bottles
I love how easy and inexpensive this Christmas Holiday decoration is. It is so easy to make. For the first example, check out this JOY vase set in my home.
The supplies needed for this project:
- 3 Wine/Beer bottles
- Chalkboard paint
- Twine
- Chalkboard marker
- White fake flowers/greens
For my next example below, I loved these frosty winter vases! When I saw them on Pinterest I knew they would be a perfect example of what I wanted to share with you!
The supplies needed for this project:
- 3 Wine bottles
- White spray paint
- Epsom Salt
- Spray adhesive
- Silver fake flowers/filler
2. Pinecone Candle Centerpiece
I love the rustic look of this coffee table or dining table centerpiece! This has the perfect amount of winter and holiday feeling to it without being tacky. Plus, I am a big fan of candles. They really set a nice ambiance and cozy feeling to a home.
If you want to duplicate this project, here are the supplies needed:
- Pine cones various sizes
- White spray paint
- Vase filler
- 3 White candles
- Gass votives
- Glass Frosting spray paint
- Tealight candles
- Rectangular wood tray
3. DIY Holiday Art
This project has charm and it is simple. It wouldn’t take long to complete and even a beginning DIYer can tackle this easily.
Supplies needed for this DIY:
- Silhouette Cameo + Stencil Vinyl
- Piece of wood (this one is 12 x 18)
- Wood Stain
- Mod Podge
- Polycrylic
- Red Glitter
- Paint Brushes

4. JOY Door Wreath
I thought this was a creative take on a traditional door wreath. It is simple but it looks great! What do you think?

- J wooden letter
- Wooden/Twine simple wreath
- Y wooden letter
- Twine
- White acrylic paint
- Silver fern and decor
- Hot glue gun & sticks

5. Let it Snow Shadow Box
I thought this would be a fun DIY Christmas decoration idea for more tropical winter environments where it isn’t snowing.
