How To Be Productive As a Blogger With These 9 Tips
Looking to be productive as a blogger? Are you tired of feeling like you’re not being as productive as you could be? Do you find yourself getting easily distracted or struggling to meet your deadlines? Well, fear not! I’ve got you covered with nine awesome tips to help you boost your productivity and conquer your blogging goals like a champ.
I became obsessed with blogging after going down the rabbit hole, and I havenโt looked back. It has made me develop better habits to help me get through life more efficiently with less stress. During this “blog schooling period” as I like to call it. I lost sleep reading blogs about blogging, watched videos, & took the advice of other professional bloggers. I. WAS. OBSESSED.
I define โknowing your craftโ as being able to speak the language of your specialty and know it so well that you could get up in front of a crowd to talk about it. I was never good at public speaking in school so that example terrifies me (just the thought of it).
My vision was to make my site a resource, something people want to come back to for ideas and inspiration. I started blogging not knowing ANYTHING about it. Wild right? Well, maybe not.
Maybe you are in the same boat I was when I first started. My point isโฆ that coming from the right approach and doing your homework is important before leaping to start a blog or even just handling your day-to-day activities in life. You have been proactive and have a plan and putting pen to paper is a powerful mind-body connection to create a productive day.

1. Set Clear Goals
Starting your workday with a clear vision of what you want to achieve is essential for staying focused and motivated. Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that align with your blogging objectives.
Whether it’s increasing your traffic, growing your email list, or publishing a certain number of blog posts per week, having specific goals will give you direction and purpose. Use an editorial calendar to schedule your posts in advance. I like to use the Epic Blog Planner from byregina.com. 2016 will be my second year using it.

2. Create a To-Do List
A to-do list is your roadmap to success as a blogger. Write down all the tasks you need to accomplish, from researching topics to promoting your content on social media. Prioritize your tasks based on urgency and importance, and consider using tools like Trello or Asana to keep your to-do list organized and easily accessible.
I usually plan out my next day the night before. This planner helps me stay on top of my daily tasks. My goal is always to accomplish 3 must-do things on my list each day for the 90-day goals I set for myself.
3. Use Time Blocks
Time blocking is a highly effective productivity technique that involves dedicating specific blocks of time to different tasks. By allocating focused periods to work on specific projects or activities, you can minimize distractions and make the most of your energy levels.
Experiment with different time block durations and find what works best for you, whether it’s 25-minute intervals using the Pomodoro Technique or longer blocks of 90 minutes with short breaks in between.
4. Eliminate Distractions
Distractions are the enemy of productivity, so it’s crucial to identify and eliminate them as much as possible. Create a distraction-free work environment by finding a quiet, clutter-free space to work in and setting boundaries with family members or roommates.
Consider using website blockers or apps like Freedom or Stay Focused to limit your access to distracting websites and social media platforms during work hours.
I always need background noise when I work or need to focus. That is the perfect time to put on music to keep my energy high and flowing. But if you are the type that needs total silence to get anything done, then you need to create that environment for yourself somehow.
5. Take Short Breaks
While it may seem counterintuitive, taking regular breaks throughout your workday can boost your productivity and creativity. Incorporate short breaks into your schedule to rest and recharge your brain, whether it’s going for a quick walk, doing some stretching exercises, or practicing mindfulness meditation.
The key is to give yourself permission to step away from your work for a few minutes and come back with a feeling of alertness, refreshed and refocused.
6. Stay Healthy
Your physical and mental well-being plays a significant role in your productivity as a blogger. Make self-care a priority by getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and staying hydrated. Incorporate regular exercise into your routine to boost your energy levels and improve your mood. Movement is not only incredible for your body, but it’s also amazing for your mental health. This can help boost your productivity habits.
Discovering the importance of enjoying your workout, I’ve realized that kickboxing is my true passion.
From childhood, boxing served as therapy for my adolescent emotions, providing a mental and physical workout that left me feeling happier and more fulfilled. Thriving in a competitive class environment, I appreciate the motivation and inspiration from others to push myself further. Plus, the mental clarity and creativity that follow a great workout are unbeatable. Practice stress-reduction techniques like deep breathing or yoga to manage any feelings of overwhelm or anxiety that may arise during your workday.
7. Focus on Small Goals
When you’re faced with a daunting task or project, breaking it down into smaller, more manageable goals can make it feel less overwhelming. Set daily or weekly milestones that move you closer to your larger objectives, and celebrate your progress along the way.
Big tasks sometimes can seem overwhelming, so breaking them down into smaller steps can be very helpful! By focusing on achievable, bite-sized goals, you’ll build momentum and maintain motivation to keep pushing forward.
8. Manage Your Time Wisely
Time management is a crucial skill for bloggers, especially those juggling multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Use time management strategies like setting deadlines, creating schedules, and using timers to stay on track and avoid procrastination.
Experiment with productivity hacks like time blocking, the Eisenhower Matrix, or the Two-Minute Rule to find what works best for you. Remember to prioritize your most important tasks and allocate your time accordingly.
9. Stay Consistent
Consistency is key to success in the world of blogging and peak productivity. Establishing a daily routine that includes dedicated time for writing, researching, editing, and promoting your content can help you stay on track and make steady progress toward your goals.
Set aside time each day for self-care activities that recharge your batteries and prevent burnout. By sticking to a consistent schedule and staying committed to your goals, you’ll create a strong foundation for long-term success as a blogger.
To summarize my technique, I schedule my day in advance with a day planner.
I keep an editorial calendar to make sure I stay on schedule for my themes each month and to keep consistency with my readers. I eliminate distractions when I need to focus & I work out at least between 4 days a week.
