Hi, I’m Meredith! I’m a fine artist, interior stylist, former film/TV set decorator, and the creative brain behind Arts & Classy.

How It All Started: From Set Sets & Rental Apartments to Fine Art

Before Arts & Classy became a home decor destination, it actually started back in 2011 as a tiny Etsy shop where I sold my original artwork. Shortly after, working in technical theatre set decoration and art direction in Los Angeles taught me a secret that changed everything: you don’t need a massive budget to tell a rich, beautiful story in a physical space.

When I moved into my first rental apartment, I faced a classic dilemma: hefty cost of rent, tiny spaces, strict lease rules, and practically zero budget. So, I picked up a paintbrush, scouted local thrift stores, and started turning hand-me-down furniture and thrifted frames into elevated, statement pieces.

For over a decade, Arts & Classy became a go-to hub for millions of readers looking for rental-friendly hacks, upcycling tutorials, and budget decorating inspiration.

The New Chapter: Homeowner, Fine Artist & Moody Bohemian Design

Fast forward to today: I’m now a homeowner, and my creative journey has come full circle.

While I still love a thrift store frame flip and a clever DIY project, my passion has expanded into fine art painting. Currently, I’m putting myself through the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program, spending 15+ hours a week in my home studio blending oil glazes, acrylic textures, and rich color palettes.

My design philosophy today centers on Moody Eclectic Bohemian Chic with some Vintage Charm: pairing vintage architectural details and cozy thrifted finds with original, hand-painted artwork that brings warmth and personality into every room.
