The excuses I hear most often from people with regards to DIY projects are that they don’t have the money or that the project is too hard. Those reasons are what motivated these cheap DIY home decor projects roundup today.

Here are some cheap DIY home decor projects home decor ideas that you can perform all by yourself if you are a beginner DIY-er.

DIY doesn’t have to be complicated.

I know when I started my blog + DIY for the first time, I eased into it. This is how I gained more confidence in my abilities. Then I just got excited about it. If you are creative, this might also happen to you. But I also think that “non-creative types” can also benefit from exercising their creative muscles.

Save money on home decor by creating cheap DIY home decor that is custom to you and your style. I assure you that some of your decors will become conversation starter pieces.

1. PINEAPPLE BOOKENDS

The Supplies needed to complete this project:

• Block of wood
• Faux pineapple
• Glue gun
• Gold Spray paint

2. SOUP CAN FLOWER VASE

Materials needed for this project: 

• soup can
• glue stick
• scissors
• paper
• washi tape
• bone folder

3. DIY FAUX MARBLE COFFEE TABLE MAKEOVER 

Supplies you will need: 

• Marble DC Fix Contact Paper. I spent about $8 a roll-on mine and purchased 2 rolls.
• Metal Ruler
• Xacto Knife and Blades
• Squeegee – to apply the contact paper.
• Scissors if needed.

4. SHIPLAP TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS

Shiplap supplies you will need: 

• 2 pieces of Plywood cut down (aka “ripped”) to 5 1/2 wide strips
• Corner wood accent piece to hide seams
• Finishing piece of wood to add to the top seam of the shiplap (I forgot what I used, but it’s a 2″ square piece that I had cut to size in the lumber department)
• Wood Glue
• Caulk Gun
• Caulk
• Nail Gun
• Primer
• White Paint
• Roller + Paint Brush
• 50 cents in Nickels (to act as spacers)

5. DIY CHEVRON TRAY MAKEOVER

Chevron tray makeover supply list: 

• 2 cans of Spray Paint – You will need to first decide what colors you want to make. (I obviously chose white and gold but pick something to fit your color scheme) But here are links to the ones I used. {side note: I already had the white spray paint from another DIY project} 
  
• Frog Tape Shape Tape – Chevron Print
• Scissors
• Masking {i.e. newspapers, scrap paper, paint drop, or scrap rag} Whatever you have around at your disposal.
• A Tray (You chose what works best for you! Mine was something my mom gave me. But you can probably find something similar at a thrift store.

6. DIY FLOWER MARKET BUCKET

Flower market supply list:

• galvanized steel bucket
• rust colored paint (we used Americana Multi-Surface Cocoa Bean)
• dark and light colored gray paint (we used Americana Multi-Surface Steel Grey and Dolphin)
• black paint (we used Americana Multi-Surface Black Satin Tie)
• sea sponges

7. FAUX GRANITE COASTERS

Supplies needed for this project:

• Glossy white tiles
• 91% rubbing alcohol
• Permanent markers
• A cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil
• A lighter like the one you see below
• Optional: an eyedropper, a spritz bottle, polyurethane spray to seal the tiles, cheap plastic tablecloths to protect your work surface

What you’ll need for each aquarium:

• glass light bulb shaped bottle with screw on cap
• small aquarium or floral rocks and/or pebbles
• small glass floral beads, jewelry beads and/or small
• small resin cabochons
• small Japanese Marimo moss ball

My best advice to those who plan on tackling these projects is...

• Look at the original tutorials via the images or the links below them to the original source.
• Make a list of any supplies you may need.
• Remember to think outside the box.
• If you hit a bump in the road, don’t give up.
• Get creative and problem-solve.
